TANER ALAKUŞ

Taner Alakuş was born in Ankara in 1966. He entered Mimar Sinan University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1982, specializing in Traditional Turkish Arts with a focus on Tezhip (illumination). He graduated in 1986, completing his master’s degree the same year, and then began his proficiency in arts education. During his school years, he studied Tezhip under Professor Dr. Tahsin Aykutalp. After graduation, Alakuş developed an interest in figurative work, which led him to the art of miniature painting.

In 1990, he started teaching miniature painting at Mimar Sinan University as a lecturer. Throughout his career, he has organized numerous national and international exhibitions and projects. Taner Alakuş continues to teach at Mimar Sinan University and has been running his own studio, the ‘Taner Alakuş Miniature Workshop,’ near Istanbul’s Kariye Museum since 2010.
